The Detroit Lions continued to solidify their position as NFC Championship contenders with a convincing victory over Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday. Despite battling through a series of injuries in recent weeks, the Lions showcased resilience and depth, demonstrating why they remain a top team in the conference.

On Monday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed the media with some promising news regarding the potential return of two key defensive players who have been sidelined for much of the season. Their return could provide a significant boost as the Lions make their final push towards the playoffs.

One of the players Campbell highlighted was linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who has been dealing with a neck injury sustained during a Week 9 matchup against the Houston Texans. Reeves-Maybin has not played since November 3, when the Lions faced the Green Bay Packers. Following that game, he was placed on injured reserve. However, Campbell expressed optimism that Reeves-Maybin could make his return when the Lions take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, December 30.

In limited action this season, Reeves-Maybin has recorded seven tackles and one forced fumble. The former Tennessee Volunteers standout played in all 17 games for Detroit last season and was a crucial part of the Lions’ defensive rotation and special teams unit. His experience and versatility will be invaluable as Detroit gears up for the postseason.

Campbell also provided an update on Alex Anzalone, another critical piece of the Lions’ defense. Anzalone, who has been out with a hand injury, is reportedly “close” to starting his practice window. While Campbell remained cautious, he noted that Anzalone’s return may not happen this week, but his progress is encouraging. Anzalone has been a defensive leader for Detroit, and getting him back on the field would significantly bolster the Lions’ linebacker corps.

On the offensive side, Campbell revealed that offensive guard/center Graham Glasgow is expected to return this week. Glasgow’s return will provide much-needed stability to the offensive line, which has been crucial in protecting quarterback Jared Goff and opening lanes for the Lions’ run game.

As the Lions inch closer to securing a playoff spot, the potential return of these key players could play a pivotal role in their postseason success. Detroit fans will be eagerly watching for updates as the team prepares for the 49ers in what could be a critical late-season matchup.
