The Detroit Lions were without two important offensive linemen during Thursday’s practice ahead of the divisional round. Offensive guard Kevin Zeitler (hamstring) and left tackle Taylor Decker were both absent during the portion of practice open to reporters. Zeitler suffered a hamstring injury and did not return in the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, while the reason for Decker’s absence is unclear. Zeitler had been listed as a non-participant following the team’s walkthrough earlier in the week, while Decker had previously been a full participant and was not initially listed with any injury designation. The Lions later described Decker’s absence as personal.

Also missing were cornerback Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring/illness) and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor (calf). Rakestraw, who had his 21-day return window open last week, missing back-to-back practices is concerning. Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed doubt about O’Connor’s availability, noting that his injury appeared more severe than those of Zeitler or cornerback Terrion Arnold. Arnold, who had been sidelined with a foot contusion, returned to practice as a full participant and is considered day-to-day. Running back David Montgomery, who was also back on the field, is expected to return against the Washington Commanders. Both Montgomery and Arnold participated fully in Thursday’s practice and are on track for their respective returns.
