Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold Delivers Heartfelt Message to Aaron Glenn After Jets HC Hire

The setbacks continue for the Detroit Lions. After suffering a surprising loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs, the Lions have now lost Aaron Glenn, who accepted the New York Jets head coaching job, following Ben Johnson’s departure to become the Chicago Bears head coach.

Glenn, the Lions’ former defensive coordinator, and Johnson, their former offensive coordinator, were considered top head coaching candidates this offseason. Sure enough, less than a week after the Lions’ season ended, both coaches have secured new roles elsewhere.

This presents a major challenge for Dan Campbell, who now faces the task of rebuilding a depleted coaching staff. While players may be disappointed by Glenn and Johnson’s exits, rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold offered a heartfelt message of support to Glenn on social media.

“Couldn’t be happier for you coach thanks for everything u taught me in year 1,” Arnold posted on X, formerly Twitter, after hearing the news.

Glenn had served as Detroit’s defensive coordinator since 2021. Although he previously received minimal head coaching interest, his work with the Lions’ defense in 2024 elevated him into contention. After parting ways with Robert Saleh and struggling defensively, the Jets hope Glenn can revitalize their unit.

Arnold, selected 24th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, spent only one season under Glenn’s guidance but showed significant development. His durability was vital for Detroit, as he appeared in 16 games during a season marked by constant defensive lineup changes.

Glenn’s departure will undoubtedly affect the Lions, particularly Arnold, who has only worked under him as a defensive coordinator. With Glenn gone, Campbell must act quickly to secure his replacement.
