After the Detroit Lions’ early exit from the playoffs, losing 45-31 to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round, players shared their feelings on social media as they processed the loss. The team had hoped to host the NFC Championship game for the first time, but those dreams were dashed by the Commanders, who advanced to face the Eagles for the NFC title.
Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold expressed his disappointment through a video on Instagram, where he listened to slow R&B music, captioning it, “POV: you should be playing today,” alongside a broken heart emoji.
Linebacker Alex Anzalone chose to stay away from social media and television to cope with the loss, posting, “Well, I guess today’s a good day for no social media and tv.”
Cornerback Amik Robertson, who suffered a broken arm during the game, also made it clear he was distancing himself from the playoffs, posting that he would be avoiding all football coverage now that the Lions were out.
The day proved tough for both the team and its fans as they were left reflecting on what could have been, while the Commanders now move on to the NFC Championship.
