The 2025 Pro Bowl Games kick off Thursday night, featuring six Detroit Lions players: quarterback Jared Goff, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, center Frank Ragnow, tackle Taylor Decker, safety Brian Branch, and punter Jack Fox.
On Wednesday, the NFL unveiled details about this year’s Pro Bowl, introducing new competitions that could provide some fun for football-hungry Lions fans. The league also revealed the participants for each event.
Here’s a look at the events where Lions players will compete starting Thursday night.
Thursday, Jan. 30 — 7-8:30 p.m. ET — ESPN
Passing the Test
Event Description:
Quarterbacks have 40 seconds to hit targets at various distances, with each target worth different points. Before throwing, each quarterback selects a teammate to answer five trivia questions about Pro Bowl players. Each correct answer adds 10 seconds to the quarterback’s throwing time. The quarterback with the highest score wins.
Lions Participant: Jared Goff, with Packers running back Josh Jacobs answering trivia to extend his throwing time.
Other Participants: Joe Burrow, Drake Maye, Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield.
The Big Spike
Event Description:
Three linemen per conference take turns hitting the Spike-o-Meter. Each player gets three attempts to record the highest power and impact score. The highest scorer earns three points for their conference.
Lions Participant: Frank Ragnow
Other Participants: Rashawn Slater, Quinnen Williams, Joel Bitonio, Chris Lindstrom, Dexter Lawrence.
Relay Race
Event Description:
A relay-style race where four players per team run a 40-yard dash before passing a football to the next teammate. The race continues until the fourth runner crosses the finish line. The fastest team wins.
Lions Participants: Jahmyr Gibbs and Brian Branch, teaming up with Jaycee Horn and Micah Parsons in one of three heats.
Other Participants: Jonathan Taylor, Pat Surtain, Danielle Hunter, Patrick Ricard.
Dodgeball
Event Description: You already know how dodgeball works.
Lions Participants: Taylor Decker and Jack Fox, joined by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Erik McCoy, Leonard Williams, Bijan Robinson, and Robert Hunt.
