During the 2024 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff opened up about his thoughts on life after football. In an interview, he admitted that his post-playing future is something he considers “quite a bit” and shared potential career paths he might explore.
“When that time comes, whether it’s years from now or sooner, will I be ready to step away completely, or will I still want to be involved?” Goff told the Detroit Free Press. “I’ve always thought it would be great to help out a friend who’s a head coach. Not necessarily coaching quarterbacks or taking on a major role, but just assisting in any way I can.”
He also mentioned the possibility of coaching at the high school level if he has children who play football. However, his primary interest lies in supporting those close to him who are in coaching positions. “If a close friend becomes a head coach and there’s something I can do to contribute, I’d definitely be open to it. It might even be a remote role, depending on the circumstances,” he added.
Though Goff remains focused on his playing career, he’s already setting up opportunities for the future. On Friday, reports emerged that he is part of an investment group working to bring a WNBA franchise to Detroit.
Expressing his enthusiasm on Instagram, Goff wrote, “I’m excited to be part of this incredible group as we strive to bring a WNBA team to Detroit! This is a huge opportunity for our city and its passionate fan base.”
His wife, Christen, who is also involved in the bid, reacted to the announcement with a simple yet powerful message: “#LetsBringIt” accompanied by a blue heart emoji.
At just 30 years old, Goff still has a long NFL career ahead, but he’s already laying the groundwork for his next chapter.
