The Minnesota Vikings’ offseason plans have largely focused on their quarterback situation, but their secondary also needs significant attention. According to Pro Football Talk’s Ben Rolfe, the Vikings are expected to pursue free-agent cornerback Carlton Davis III, currently with the Detroit Lions. Minnesota faces the potential loss of its top three corners in free agency, which makes cornerback a priority.

Davis, 28, was a second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played six years in Tampa before being traded to Detroit in 2024. Rolfe predicts Davis, with a projected contract under $14 million annually, could be a more affordable option compared to retaining Byron Murphy, whose deal could exceed $22 million per year. This would allow the Vikings to bring in more than one veteran cornerback.
