USC Transfer Lorenzo Cowan Pledges to Kentucky
The spring college football transfer window is officially open, and Kentucky has already started making moves to strengthen its roster.
One of the latest additions is former USC edge rusher Lorenzo Cowan, who has committed to Kentucky. Cowan is no stranger to the Wildcats — he originally committed to them during his recruitment before eventually signing with USC. Now, after redshirting his freshman year with the Trojans, he’s headed back to where it all began, bringing four years of eligibility with him.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, Cowan was a 3-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. According to 247Sports, he ranked No. 894 nationally, No. 60 among edge defenders, and No. 102 in Georgia. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, he had a variety of offers from schools like Virginia Tech, Duke, Minnesota, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, and South Florida.
USC head coach Lincoln Riley had praised Cowan’s progress during spring practice. “Zo Cowan has had a great spring so far,” Riley noted, as reported by On3. “He and Tobias Raymond were highlighted in our team meeting as two guys showing big growth. I’m proud of their development.”
Cowan’s arrival is a big boost for Kentucky’s defensive front, adding depth and potential at the edge rusher position. This follows the return of former Nebraska wideout Hardley Gilmore IV, who also rejoined Kentucky through the portal earlier this week.
