
Cowboys Mourn Loss of Former Strength Coach
FRISCO – As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for next week’s NFL Draft and reflect on Tyron Smith’s recent retirement, a wave of sadness has hit the organization following the death of a former staff member.
Joe Juraszek, who served as the Cowboys’ strength and conditioning coach from 1997 to 2010, has passed away at the age of 67, the team confirmed Thursday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been disclosed.
During his 13-year tenure with Dallas, Juraszek worked under five different head coaches, earning respect and admiration from many players and colleagues over the years. His passing prompted an outpouring of tributes from former teammates and coaches.
Former head coach Dave Campo, who led the team from 2000 to 2002, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook: “Very saddened to hear about Joe Juraszek’s passing. He was not only our longtime strength coach but also a wonderful person. Always full of energy and dedication to our players and the Cowboys organization. He will truly be missed.”
Juraszek also served under coaches Barry Switzer and Wade Phillips during his Cowboys career.
Former cornerback Jacques Reeves expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “He was the best strength & conditioning coach I’ve ever worked with.”
