Detroit Rapper Kash Doll Makes a Public Push for Za’Darius Smith’s Return to the Lions
Detroit’s own Kash Doll is known for her music, but recently, she shifted gears into sports mode — using her platform to try and bring EDGE rusher Za’Darius Smith back to the Lions. The rapper made her case courtside at a Detroit Pistons game, and her message quickly caught fire online.
A Courtside Campaign Goes Viral
In a live video that’s now spreading across social media, Kash Doll passionately called on Smith to return to the Motor City:
“Oh my God, Za’Darius, can you please come back to the Lions? Please?! Yes, yes — we love you! Come back! Come back!”
The fans around her ate it up, clearly echoing her sentiment. Smith, sitting nearby, responded with a playful joke:
“You gonna help pay my salary?”
Although said in jest, the interaction showed there’s still a strong connection between Smith and Detroit.
The Lions’ Stance So Far
Earlier in the offseason, Lions GM Brad Holmes mentioned the team had spoken with Smith’s representation, though those conversations have quieted since the league’s annual meetings. However, Holmes didn’t shut the door completely, and the Lions haven’t made any big additions at EDGE since.
With Aidan Hutchinson back to full strength, adding another veteran pass-rusher like Smith could give the defense a serious boost.
Detroit’s Unique Way of Recruiting
From diehard fans to hometown celebrities like Kash Doll, Detroit wears its heart on its sleeve. The city has never been shy about supporting its players or making their voices heard — and this is just the latest example.
Even if Za’Darius Smith doesn’t return, there’s no denying the love is real. And with Kash Doll leading the charge, Detroit’s message is loud and clear:
Za’Darius, it’s time to come home.
