Caden Prieskorn Joins Detroit Lions as Undrafted Free Agent

After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ole Miss tight end Caden Prieskorn, the older sibling of Michigan tight end [Brady Prieskorn], has signed with the Detroit Lions. He now has the opportunity to compete for a roster spot in one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.

Detroit Lions 2025 NFL Draft Overview and Defensive Tackles Strategy

Leading up to the draft, scouts had varied opinions on Prieskorn’s potential at the NFL level. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein assigned him a prospect grade of 5.67, predicting him as a possible late-round pick or a priority free agent. Zierlein shared his analysis of Prieskorn’s skill set, stating:

“Prieskorn possesses the size and body type of a traditional in-line tight end, but he currently lacks the toughness and blocking skills needed to succeed in that role in the NFL. Much of his production came from designed schemes or exploiting zone defenses. He struggles with creating separation in his routes and doesn’t have the speed to consistently beat man coverage at the NFL level. As a run blocker, he’s capable of neutralizing less aggressive defenders, but he has difficulty handling more powerful, aggressive opponents. While his ball skills are solid, his blocking and physicality will need to improve if he wants to secure a spot on an NFL roster.”

With a crowded tight end group in Detroit, Prieskorn will have to prove himself during the offseason to earn a place. However, the Lions have shown a strong track record of developing young talent, giving Prieskorn a fair chance to make an impact.
