Now that the NFL Draft has concluded, Jalen Ramsey remains on the Miami Dolphins roster—despite widespread expectations that he would be dealt. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently reported that both the Dolphins and Ramsey have agreed to pursue a trade, and the organization continues to explore potential deals.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Bachar floated an intriguing scenario: shipping the star cornerback to the Detroit Lions. Detroit’s secondary struggled mightily last season, a flaw that was glaring in their playoff collapse against the Washington Commanders.

Despite finishing the regular season with an impressive 15-2 record and claiming the NFC’s top seed, Detroit’s postseason run ended abruptly with a 45-31 loss. In that game, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels torched the Lions’ defense, completing 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards and two scores. Detroit ranked third-worst in the league in pass defense throughout 2024, an issue they didn’t completely solve in the draft.

Given their current championship aspirations, the Lions could be drawn to a proven talent like Ramsey to shore up the back end of their defense.

Still, there’s the matter of Ramsey’s hefty contract—he’s playing under a $72 million, three-year deal signed just last offseason. If Detroit is willing to absorb that salary and offer a mid-round draft pick—perhaps a third or fourth—it could be enough to convince Miami to move on from the All-Pro defender.
