Otega Oweh and Jaland Lowe Exploring 2025 NBA Draft While Retaining Eligibility
Kentucky guards Otega Oweh and Jaland Lowe have entered their names into the 2025 NBA Draft pool but will retain their college eligibility as they explore professional opportunities. The NBA officially released the list of early draft entrants on Tuesday, confirming the participation of both players.
Oweh, a rising senior, had already made public his intention to test the draft waters. Lowe, a junior who transferred from Pitt, was also anticipated to go through the process when he entered the transfer portal.
Both players will now undergo evaluations that could include team workouts, interviews, and possibly participation in the NBA Combine. To preserve their NCAA eligibility, they must decide whether to remain in the draft or return to school by May 28.
As it stands, neither player is projected to be drafted in the upcoming 59-pick event, set for June 25–26. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony ranked Oweh at No. 77 on the outlet’s draft board, while Lowe did not appear on the list.
Oweh, who posted 16.2 points per game and received All-SEC recognition last season, is seen as having a higher potential to rise in the draft rankings — but would need to perform well during evaluations. Should he return to Kentucky, he is expected to play a major leadership role under head coach Mark Pope in the upcoming season.
Lowe, still developing, is using the process as an opportunity to gain insight and prepare for a bigger role at Kentucky next year. While both guards remain open to going pro, they are widely expected to return to the Wildcats’ lineup in 2025–26, bringing experience and depth to a newly structured roster.
