Murray State Baseball Makes Historic Cinderella Run to 2025 College World Series in Omaha

In one of the most thrilling stories of the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, Murray State University has defied all odds and punched its ticket to the College World Series (CWS) in Omaha for the first time in school history. As a No. 4 regional seed, the Racers’ incredible postseason journey has captured the attention of the college baseball world—and become the ultimate Cinderella story of the tournament.

The Racers stunned the baseball community by winning the Louisville Regional, knocking off powerhouse programs including Louisville and Michigan. Murray State then kept the magic alive in the Super Regionals, where they overcame No. 7 national seed Duke in a dramatic three-game series in Durham, North Carolina.

Led by head coach Dan Skirka, the Racers have become only the fourth No. 4 regional seed in NCAA history to reach Omaha, joining the ranks of teams like 2008 Fresno State and 2016 Coastal Carolina—both of whom went on to win the national title.

Much of Murray State’s success has been fueled by standout performances from ace pitcher Logan McBride, who pitched a complete game shutout in Game 3 against Duke, and slugger Tyler Jackson, whose clutch hitting and leadership have become the heart of the Racers’ offense.

Now heading to Omaha, the Racers will face stiff competition from blue-blood programs such as LSU, Arizona, and Oregon State. But if this postseason has proven anything, it’s that Murray State’s underdog spirit and team chemistry make them a dangerous opponent for anyone.

As the 2025 College World Series begins, all eyes will be on Murray State baseball, the small school with a big heart, chasing a dream season and looking to etch its name in NCAA history.
