Lamar Garrison, a three-star wide receiver in the class of 2028, withdrew his commitment to Florida State earlier this month. That hasn’t deterred them from actively seeking for another.
They are keeping an eye on one of the best candidates in the class. He is a four-star edge Cam Toomey from Saratoga Springs, New York. He announced on social media on Monday that he had been awarded a scholarship to FSU.
Toomey said he was incredibly pleased to have been offered a position with @FSUFootball.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder is coming off a fairly remarkable sophomore season. He ended with 36 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, 19 quarterback hurries, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three blocked field goals. Toomey also contributed on offense, catching eight receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown as a tight end, as well as 77 running yards.
Toomey is the No. 44 overall prospect in the country and the No. 5 edge according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is the top recruit in New York.
Among Toomey’s current offers are from institutions like Notre Dame, Penn State, and Auburn. Penn State has previously welcomed him many times. With an offer on the table, Florida State will surely seek to secure its first visit with Toomey as well.
