Cincinnati small forward Shon Abaev is the Seminoles’ first portal target of the cycle following a trip to Florida State on Saturday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

This past season, Abaev, who is 6 feet 8 inches tall, played for the Cincinnati Bearcats, averaging 7. 0 points, 2. 9 rebounds, and 1. 1 assists per game. Originally from South Florida, he went to Calvary Christian School, where he played with four-star Florida State recruit Collin Paul.

The Rivals transfer portal rankings list Abaev as the 15th-best small forward and the 113th-best player overall. Prior to graduating from high school, he was a consensus Top 30 player in the nation and a McDonald’s All-American.

The two players they had on campus this weekend were UNC Asheville guard Kameron Taylor and Abaev. There will be a number of other potential candidates visiting the Seminoles’ campus this week.

With Abaev in the fold and Taylor, Missouri transfer Anthony Robinson, and Colorado transfer Sebastian Rancik being top priorities, the Seminoles are likely to add three to five prospects this cycle, perhaps with a bias toward four at the moment.
