The Spartans didn’t have to travel far to find a good match. Anna Wypych was a local star and the 2025 Miss Basketball of Michigan, who chose Butler after graduating from high school. Wypych was seeking a new home in the portal after playing in 29 games as a true rookie, including three starts this season.
The Rockford native did not have to go far when she decided to return to Michigan to play for Fralick and Michigan State.
That’s one piece of the jigsaw for the Spartans, since it’s evident that the club would have to seek other players in the transfer market. With other crucial individuals in the portal, such as Ines Sotelo, there is a lack of expertise in the position.
Pairing two Miss Basketball winners, Wypych and incoming freshman Lilly Williams, should result in a strong addition of talent following what turned out to be a sad conclusion to a formerly promising season.
It’s great to see that she will come in with solid game experience, as she averaged 6. 5 points and 1. 2 assists per game. She should definitely ease Kennedy Blair’s load as well.
Anna played outstanding in her final five games as a Bulldog, scoring eight or more points in each game, including a career-high 21 points against DePaul.
This was a critical need for Fralick and the Spartan women’s program.
