Ipswich Town have reportedly intensified their pursuit of SC Freiburg winger Derry Scherhant, with the Championship club eager to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
According to Sport BILD, Ipswich are making a serious push to sign the 22-year-old, who impressed during the 2025/26 campaign with seven goals and one assist in 44 competitive appearances across all competitions for Freiburg.
Despite the growing interest from England, Freiburg are in no rush to sell one of their key attacking players. Head coach Julian Schuster is said to be counting on Scherhant for the upcoming season, with the Bundesliga side determined to keep him unless a significant offer arrives.
Reports suggest Freiburg have placed a valuation of between €16.5 million and €17.5 million on the winger and would only consider a sale if Ipswich or another interested club meets their asking price.
Scherhant is believed to be open to the idea of a move to England, where he would stand to earn a more lucrative contract. However, the sporting project will also influence his decision. While Ipswich are expected to battle to avoid relegation, Freiburg are once again aiming to qualify for European competition, offering the winger the chance to compete at a higher level.
With the transfer window still open, it remains to be seen whether Ipswich Town are willing to match Freiburg’s valuation and convince the talented German attacker to make the move to Portman Road.
