Auburn transfer Chad Baker-Mazara commits to USC

Baker-Mazara, a native of the Dominican Republic, began his collegiate career at Duquesne before making stops at San Diego State and Auburn. His journey has taken him through multiple high-level programs, but USC could be the stage where he finally settles in as a featured contributor. Known for his length, perimeter defense, and streaky scoring ability, Baker-Mazara adds a unique skill set to a USC squad in transition following the departure of key players and the arrival of Musselman from Arkansas.

At Auburn in the 2023–24 season, Baker-Mazara saw limited minutes but made an impact in key moments. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting over 40% from the field in a reserve role. His energy and defense often sparked the Tigers, and his upside remains attractive to coaches looking for wings who can defend multiple positions and contribute offensively.

Baker-Mazara’s commitment comes at a time when USC is looking to rebuild its identity after a disappointing end to the 2023–24 campaign and the departure of head coach Andy Enfield to SMU. Musselman, who had tremendous success in the transfer portal while leading Arkansas to multiple NCAA Tournament runs, is expected to lean heavily on experienced transfers to jumpstart his USC tenure.
