USA Basketball head coach Cheryl Reeve refused to answer questions about Caitlin Clark after the WNBA star was left off the roster for this summer’s Olympics.

Although Clark has emerged as the biggest star in women’s basketball, her exclusion from the 12-woman roster for the Paris Games was met with controversy. Clark plays with the Indiana Fever.

In addition to coaching the Minnesota Lynx, Reeve was questioned about Clark’s future with the national team following her team’s Sunday loss to the Fever.

“Why the devil would I respond to a query about the national team?” Reeve stated, as reported by ESPN.

“Lynx is what I’m wearing.” Furthermore, although I lead the national team as head coach, I do not serve as the committee chair. Would anyone like to try their hand at anything else?

The 22-year-old Clark, the top overall choice in the 2024 draft, created WNBA history in her first season of play. She has contributed to increasing the sport’s visibility and WNBA game attendance. Prior to the game on Sunday in Minneapolis, though, Reeve expressed her lack of concern over the possibility of supporters showing up to support the away team.

‘I don’t give two s*’ she said. ‘Not one s*’

During Sunday’s Fever victory, Clark took a hard stance against an opponent. During a fast break, the former Iowa star was spotted swatting a defender’s eye.

After grabbing a steal close to Indiana’s basket during the third quarter of the 81-74 victory, Clark raced down the court in transition, only to have Lynx forward Cecilia Zandalasini grab him at halfcourt.

After reviewing the action, the officials chose to side with Zandalasini rather than Clark, awarding the future Rookie of the Year a technical foul.
