The Detroit Lions are reintroducing a familiar face to the secondary.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Detroit has reached an agreement with veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin on a one-year, $4 million contract, keeping the defensive back in Honolulu Blue for another season.

Ya-Sin joined the Lions in 2025 and swiftly established himself as a useful backup in Detroit’s defensive backfield. Last season, he participated in all 17 games, starting six, and had 47 total tackles with nine passes defended.

Veteran presence in the secondary.

Ya-Sin, who was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, has established a name for himself as a powerful corner capable of playing both inside and outside.

In 96 games throughout his seven-year NFL career, he has made 45 starts while recording:

246 total tackles.
40 passes defended
Two Interceptions
2 Forced fumbles

Before joining Detroit, the 29-year-old played for the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers.

Why the relocation matters

With the Lions emphasizing depth and physicality in the secondary, returning Ya-Sin provides Detroit with seasoned cornerback depth as well as another dependable choice for coverage packages.

Ya-Sin’s return provides stability to the defensive backfield for a team with Super Bowl aspirations heading into the 2026 NFL season.
