After a crushing 34-10 loss to the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski faced tough questions about his team’s offensive collapse and the future of quarterback Joe Flacco. Instead of pinning the loss on one player, Stefanski delivered a message of accountability, stressing that the team’s struggles must be owned collectively.

“We didn’t do enough on offense … we own this all together,” Stefanski admitted in his postgame presser. He emphasized that football success requires all phases to click: “To have success on any side of the ball, you have to play as one and play together.”

But the spotlight remained on Flacco, whose performance fueled questions about whether a quarterback change was coming. Stefanski didn’t flinch, saying, “When we struggle like we did on offense, I understand the question. But [making a QB change] is not our focus.” By refusing to bench his veteran quarterback, Stefanski made it clear he’s standing by his plan—for now.

The coach did note a few fleeting positives, pointing out that the Browns “did a good job of attacking their man coverage” on the opening drive. Still, he admitted that they failed to sustain any momentum. On the defensive side, Stefanski praised his players for “competing like crazy,” but admitted turnovers and sloppy execution doomed them, giving Detroit too many chances to pull away.

Stefanski also acknowledged the difficulty of facing a team as sharp as the Lions in their own stadium. “We didn’t do the things you need to do to beat a good team on the road,” he confessed. In the end, his assessment was blunt: “Too many things went wrong,” a reflection of how Cleveland’s errors piled up against one of the NFC’s hottest teams.

Ultimately, Stefanski’s postgame message wasn’t about excuses but about ownership. He rejected finger-pointing, backed his quarterback, and insisted that the Browns’ path forward lies in unity, cleaner execution, and resilience. Whether those words will spark a turnaround—or simply add more pressure in the weeks ahead—remains to be seen.
