The 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis saw former BYU football linebacker Jack Kelly participate in drills.

The Kearns, Utah, resident had good figures from the first day of on-field exercises for position groups.

His last recorded 40-yard sprint time from Thursday was 4. 57. Initially, Kelly ran unofficially in 4. 60 seconds for 40 yards, then he made his time better on the second run, which was unofficially timed at 4. 58 seconds, before finishing in 4. 57 seconds.

Among linebackers who competed on Thursday, it’s the eighth-fastest 40-yard sprint. Sonny Styles, an Ohio State linebacker, had the quickest time with a 4. 46.

Kelly also tied for third position among linebackers with a 10-foot, five-inch broad jump.

In the 20-yard shuttle, where he completed with a time of 4. 19 seconds, Kelly’s highlight was on display. Along with Jacob Rodriguez, a former standout linebacker from Texas Tech and another member of the Big 12, that was the fastest time.

During his time at BYU, Kelly, who is 6’2″ and 240 pounds, showed great closing speed. As a crucial member of a Cougars team that had one of the top defenses in the Big 12 last season and ended with a 12-2 record, he recorded 10 sacks in his senior year.

Kelly’s week in Indianapolis saw him measure his arm at 31 1/8 inches and his hand at 9 1/8 inches.

Kelly’s RAS (Relative Athletic Score) is 9. 81 out of 10, as determined by his measures and the results he submitted at the NFL Combine. That puts him in the 57th percentile among 3,216 linebacker candidates between 1987 and 2026.

In his two years at BYU, Kelly had one interception, fifteen sacks, 23. 5 tackles for loss, and 106 tackles.
