After one season at BYU, BYU starting wing Kennard Davis has joined the NCAA transfer site. Davis played in 32 games for BYU, starting each one he played. Following a standout season at Southern Illinois, Davis joined BYU.

Last season, Davis averaged 8. 5 points, 2. 7 rebounds, and 1. 3 assists per game. He, frankly, battled to maintain a regular scoring pace throughout the season. Davis took on a larger role and his stats improved when Richie Saunders sustained a season-ending injury.

Davis will have one year of eligibility remaining at his new institution.

With Davis on his way out, BYU will be replacing five starters next season, assuming AJ Dybantsa declares for the NBA Draft. Richie Saunders and Keba Keita are ineligible. Robert Wright III and Kennard Davis have entered the transfer portal. BYU will have five new starters next season.

BYU will be active in the transfer market to replace Davis and other players. One name to keep an eye on is Collin Chandler, a former BYU signee. Chandler joined the transfer portal on Wednesday, having spent his first two seasons at Kentucky. The links between BYU and Chandler are clear.

Aside from a wing to replace Kennard Davis, BYU will need to add a guard and at least one big man. The Cougars are expected to require numerous big men from the portal, particularly if more attrition occurs at that position.

On Wednesday, reports emerged that superstar point guard Robert Wright III intends to enter the transfer portal. Wright had a tremendous season at BYU in his only year there. He started his career at Baylor before joining BYU.

Kennard Davis was the second BYU starter to join the transfer gateway. He will have one year of eligibility left at his next institution. Davis averaged 18 points per game for Southern Illinois before transferring to BYU.

Staton was the first BYU player to join the transfer portal. He won’t be the last, for sure. Staton only stayed in the program for a year after enrolling as a member of the 2025 class. He was a highly sought-after recruit with numerous possibilities. He entered with a Do Not Contact tag, which suggests he already has a location in mind.

Staton was a highly sought after recruit graduating from high school.
