“Back together and it feels amazing!” Donnie posted on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo with Bridget. “Thrilled to have my longtime friend and on-screen sister @bridgetmoynahan joining me for the series premiere of #BostonBlue!”

In addition to acting, Moynahan will also be directing episodes this season, Donnie revealed.
“She’s bringing her incredible vision to the director’s chair too! So much more to come — stay tuned!” he added.

Fans were overjoyed by the news, flooding the comments with excitement: “Seeing you two back together is everything… who else might return?” one asked. Another commented, “This made my day! Hoping for more guest stars from the original series!”

In the original Blue Bloods, Erin Reagan was a prosecutor and the only Reagan family member who chose a career in the legal field instead of policing.

Bridget isn’t the only Reagan joining Danny in Boston — Mika Amonsen has been cast as Danny’s son, Sean, now a full-time character. Amonsen takes over the role from Andrew Terraciano, as the character takes on a new storyline following his family’s law enforcement path.

New Chapter for Danny Reagan in Boston Blue

The upcoming series, Boston Blue, follows Danny Reagan’s transition to working as a detective with the Boston Police Department. His new partner is Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. Lena comes from a powerful law enforcement family rooted in the city.

Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) joins the cast as Reverend Peters, Lena’s grandfather and a respected pastor at a historic Baptist church in Boston. His character is described as open-minded and embracing of different backgrounds and traditions.

Also part of the Silver family are Maggie Lawson as Superintendent Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as rookie cop Jonah Silver, and Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, the city’s District Attorney. Mae is a widow whose judge husband was assassinated in front of a courthouse. She now leads a blended family deeply embedded in Boston’s justice system — with daughter Lena, stepdaughter Sarah, and son Jonah all in law enforcement roles
