According to journalist Alan Nixon, Crystal Palace are considering bringing in Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to take over from Oliver Glasner.
The Selhurst Park club is anticipated to speak with the Spanish manager, who may depart Bournemouth when his contract expires in June.
As he weighs his alternatives, Iraola has postponed discussions on a new contract and is willing to leave the Dorset coast at the conclusion of the campaign.
In recent weeks, in addition to Tottenham, who earlier this month hired manager Roberto De Zerbi on a five-year contract, Athletic Bilbao has also been connected with interest in the 43-year-old.
Andoni Iraola receptive to a transfer to Palace
Iraola has been on Crystal Palace’s shortlist for months, and Nixon claims that he has slowed contract negotiations with Bournemouth in order to maintain the Eagles’ interest.
Although the Selhurst Park team worried that Tottenham or Athletic Bilbao would snatch him up, Iraola is said to be open to discussing his future with Palace because he is interested in taking over for Glasner this summer.
Iraola has been included on Palace’s shortlist of Premier League-proven managers, along with others, such Sean Dyche and Marco Silva, whose Fulham contracts are about to expire at the end of the campaign.
Following his dismissal at Nottingham Forest earlier this year, Dyche is now free, and he was rumored to be taking over at Spurs before De Zerbi was hired.
Although the ‘elite’ Spaniard is weighing all of his possibilities, Bournemouth is still hopeful that Iraola will sign a new contract and dedicate his future to the team. However, the wait is lengthy.
In his first two seasons, Iraola guided the south coast team to Premier League results of 12th and 9th, and with Bournemouth presently just three points behind Chelsea in sixth place, he is fighting for European qualification this year.
Former Tottenham manager in Palace’s sights
Thomas Frank, the former Tottenham manager, is reportedly on Crystal Palace’s shortlist to replace Glasner, who is scheduled to depart when his contract expires in June.
Following his dismissal from Tottenham in February, after only eight months in charge of the north London club, Frank is now available.
Despite the Danish strategist’s stock decline after a lackluster stint at Spurs, his performance at Brentford is thought to be a key component of Palace’s interest in him.
During his 38 games in charge of the north London team, Frank only managed 13 victories and 10 league points at home.
