Many of college football’s legendary rivalries are based on mutual disdain on the field. Only two major rivalries are year-long feuds, regardless of sport: Army vs. Navy and the Texas Longhorns against the Texas A&M Aggies.
The Lonestar Showdown knows no limits, including the basketball court, where the two clubs faced off for the second time this season in a crucial game for both teams as they attempt to stay in contention for the NCAA Tournament.
The Longhorns had the final chuckle, avenging their early-season defeat to the Aggies, and Dailyn Swain mocked the Aggies after the victory. The Longhorns’ season-long leading scorer shared a snapshot of the award with his thumb down, mocking his in-state competitors.

The Longhorns and Aggies have a knack for making their games meaningful, and the second meeting was no exception, as both teams sought to stay in the NCAA Tournament and avoid a play-in game as one of the final four teams.
After a 76-70 defeat on the road at Reed Arena in College Station, the Longhorns got their revenge with a huge victory for first-year coach Sean Miller. After the triumph, feelings were high, and players freely expressed their contempt for their rivals, including Swain.
Sad A– Swain posted on his Instagram story during Senior Night, twisting his thumbs down at the trophy for the rivalry.
Swain has played an important role in the Longhorns’ success this season, particularly as they have emerged as one of the country’s top offensive teams. The guard leads the squad in points per game (17. 7), rebounds per game (7. 4), assists per game (3. 1), and steals per game (1. 8). He would finish with a double-double against the Aggies, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 29 minutes on the court.
Tramon Mark, on the other hand, was the game’s top scorer in the win over the Aggies. He would end with 23 points, shooting an excellent 7-for-13 from the field and a flawless 7-for-7 from the free throw line, which was a recurring theme for the full team in the game.
While Swain and the Longhorns celebrated a big win for their postseason résumé, there appeared to be some personal satisfaction in defeating their opponents on their home court.
