Dallas Cowboys supporters typically gush about how their club might finally return to the Super Bowl at this point in the NFL offseason.

This time, it doesn’t appear to be the case. Jerry Jones promised to give it his all throughout the summer, but he fell short. He only brought back Ezekiel Elliott, let go of other important players, and hasn’t yet extended the contracts of any of their big talents.

Skip Bayless thinks the owner might be setting Dak Prescott up for failure because of this. The controversial analyst and well-known Cowboys fan criticized Jones in the most recent episode of his podcast for letting the team start the 2018 season with two rookies on the offensive line.

Additionally, Bayless notes that there isn’t a definite workhorse running back on the club. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is also not happy with the company because, understandably, he wants a contract extension.

Prescott also did not receive a contract extension, so the quarterback will bear a greater burden due to the unpredictability.

Even if Jones is merely attempting to harm him in order to keep his value as a free agent low, it doesn’t guarantee that the quarterback will sign with Dallas again at a lower salary.

The Cowboys are playing with fire because Lamb might get sick of his circumstances and try to push his way out, while Prescott will eventually leave for nothing. Although Jones’ power struggles and mind games may have benefited him in the corporate world, there’s a reason why this once-great squad hasn’t been the champion for decades.
