The Dallas Cowboys 2024 training camp has already begun in Oxnard, California, and all players are expected to report for the first session on Thursday morning.

But one person has decided not to take part. CeeDee Lamb, a talented wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, is impatient with the team’s slow progress in offering him a contract extension.

Lamb is also refusing to practice with the team until they can reach a compromise. Other Cowboys players have tried it before, and they both had success.

Given his considerable influence in this area, CeeDee’s confirmed absence was not shocking in the slightest.

For the same reason, Lamb was already unable to attend mandatory minicamp and OTAs over the offseason. He was fined $101,716 in total for doing this.

If you miss training camp, you’ll pay much more in fines.Lamb faces a punishment of up to $40,000 for each practice that is missed.

It will be much greater if he skips any preseason games. The collective bargaining agreement’s Article 7, Section G states that Lamb could be penalized up to $40,000 for each practice that he skipped while in training camp. In addition, he would forfeit a full week’s salary for each preseason game missed.

Given that Lamb’s weekly wage under his current contract is slightly under $1 million, missing all three preseason games could result in a punishment of up to $3.68 million.

Lamb appears to be covering these expenses in the hopes of eventually being able to afford them through a contract extension.

Although Lamb is still under contract as a rookie, the Cowboys have the option to waive his penalty for missing minicamp; however, they are unable to do the same for the fines he will incur for missing training camp or preseason games.

It would be prudent for the Cowboys to begin the contract process as soon as possible, since doing so before the season begins may result in them saving as much as $13.5 million in cap space in 2024.Lamb is not participating right now.
