As a junior, he played in 11 games and completed 52.9% of the passes for 2,406 yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

Along with 13 touchdowns on the ground, he also gained 772 yards and 6.3 yards per run through rushes. According to PFF, the quarterback from Tallahassee,

Florida, was as good as or more effective than Michael Penix Jr. and JJ McCarthy, the two quarterbacks who competed in January’s college football national championship, as well as two of the top three quarterbacks chosen in the April NFL Draft (Caleb Williams, Drake Maye).

One of the top college football players this fall is Garrett Greene, a senior quarterback at West Virginia University. On Monday morning, the Maxwell Football Club repeated that opinion.

Greene is one of 80 FBS players on the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the most “outstanding player in college football” by the Maxwell Football Club.

He cemented his spot in PFF’s top-10 quarterback rankings during the postseason with an MVP performance at Duke’s Mayo Bowl, where he racked up 292 all-purpose yards and a passing touchdown.

For his achievements off the field, he is also a nominee for the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Recent recipients of the Maxwell Award include Bryce Young (2021), Williams (2022) and Penix (2023).
