Despite being absent from Cowboys training camp, CeeDee Lamb is maintaining his fitness.

Even though CeeDee Lamb isn’t at the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp, the talented wide receiver is still performing well. On Sunday, August 4, Lamb’s trainer, Delfonte Diamond, uploaded a video of Lamb exercising on the beach.

In some deep sand, the Pro Bowl pass-catcher is seen honing his speed, agility, and route running.

Lamb is requesting a contract extension that is comparable to the large sums of money that several of his colleagues just obtained. Notably, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, an All-Pro, inked a four-year, $140 million contract extension that included a $110 million guarantee.

Lamb hopes to secure a comparable financial commitment that reflects his contribution to the Cowboys and his on-field success. Lamb had a league-high 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns at the end of the previous campaign.

Entering the last year of his rookie deal, he was selected in the first round of the 2020 draft. Lamb’s option payment for the fifth year is $17.9 million.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Eager for CeeDee Lamb to Return

While on strike, Lamb has remained silent, but he recently chatted with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. On July 29, he sent Prescott birthday wishes, but they also talked about Lamb’s predicament.

“I received a wonderful ‘happy birthday’ message from him on my recent birthday, which sparked some conversations,” Prescott remarked. Yes, sir, I am aware that he recently told me that he is eager to return and is prepared to do so, provided that this matter is resolved for him.

Hopefully, we can have him back sooner rather than later because I know that I am. However, I am aware that he is working hard, scratching, and eager to get back to the guys.

Building camaraderie and getting the rust off is usually beneficial during training camp. However, given his relationship with Prescott, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t seem to be too concerned about Lamb missing time.

“Well, the fact that they worked so hard together this summer is exciting. They were together for a long time,” Jones stated on July 29. As a result, I have no concerns whatsoever about him skipping a few practices at the beginning of the season.

“We have plenty of time left; that Green Bay game is six months away from us being in a position to play. But they’ve collaborated on a lot of projects. We were pleased when we drafted CeeDee because he had surrendered to us.

He has been all of that and more for the team. He is a player who offers you numerous options to move the ball with him throughout a play.

Cowboys Negotiations With CeeDee Lamb Priority Over Dak Prescott
With Lamb and Prescott approaching a contract year, the Cowboys are aggressively negotiating contract extensions with both players.

Dallas is giving the negotiations with Lamb precedence over Prescott, according to Dallas Morning News reporter Calvin Watkins. On July 20, Watkins wrote, “The good news is the Cowboys made Lamb their No. 1 priority.”

“A source familiar with the front office’s thinking claims that the Cowboys are prioritizing Lamb’s contract extension negotiations over quarterback Dak Prescott’s.”

Not surprisingly, as Lamb is not in the camp. But if a new contract isn’t signed by the summer, Prescott can become a free agent.

With 4,516 passing yards, Prescott led the NFL in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36). The quarterback for the Cowboys has stated that he is not afraid to play for a different team in the future. Numerous quarterbacks have experience playing for different teams.

That’s just the way this game works and who we are. That’s just me not being gullible about that,” Prescott said to Fox 4’s Jeff Kolb. “It’s not something I search for, plan, or even anticipate, but I’ll be ready if something like that occurs.”

On September 8, Prescott and the Cowboys take on the Cleveland Browns in the first game of the regular season.
