The Dallas Cowboys’ running back-by-committee, Royce Freeman, is now fighting for a roster berth; nevertheless, the seasoned rusher was injured at an unlucky time.
Although the injury bug came at an unfortunate time, veteran running back Royce Freeman is competing for a spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ 53-man roster and a role in the team’s running back-by-committee for the upcoming season.

It is yet unknown how serious the injury is or when he will be able to return. Freeman is one of the players at camp who is battling groin problems, along with tight end Luke Schoonmaker and safety Israel Mukuamu.
Freeman’s injury occurs at a bad time—practices are starting to get more intense, and the preseason is quickly approaching.
Before the preseason opener at SoFi Stadium over the weekend, the Cowboys and Freeman’s former team, the Los Angeles Rams, will have a combined practice and scrimmate later this week.
While he can only watch from the sidelines, Freeman’s absence enables the younger players to make their mark in the rotation and demonstrate their abilities in real-time action. Hopefully, the seasoned rusher will be able to get back on the field soon because he has been having a good training camp thus far.
