Hendon Hooker, the quarterback for the Lions, was knocked out of Thursday night’s preseason game against the Giants.
In what was his first game of any kind since tearing his ACL at Tennessee in 2022, Hooker ran the ball four times for 34 yards without avoiding contact. According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, Hooker was hurt during a running play. He’s in the protocol, of course,”
Campbell remarked. “He’ll be assessed. I have no idea how long it will last. Someone rang his bell. Of course, we would have preferred to spend more time with him, but life takes its course. I believe that was during one of his runs.
The Lions would like to see Hooker get better at avoiding big hits.
That is the result of running. You are going to take some hits as a quarterback in this league, according to Campbell. Thus, you must exercise extreme discretion.

He will need to develop his discernment. If he wants to use more of his legs, he will have to slip. It’s beneficial because it keeps you out of trouble, but the drawback is that you put yourself out there and get whacked.
After Hooker was hurt, Nate Sudfeld, who had started the game for the Lions at quarterback, came back. Not playing was Jared Goff.
Connor Galvin, an offensive lineman, injured his knee, and defensive lineman David Bada appeared to have ruptured his Achilles during the game, both of which were major injuries for the Lions.
According to Tim Twentyman of the team’s website, cornerback Morice Norris sustained a hamstring injury, defensive lineman Nate Lynn exited with a shoulder injury, wide receiver Antoine Green of the Lions also sustained a concussion, and linebacker James Houston received a bone bruise on his knee.
