Dalvin Cook, a former running back in the Pro Bowl, is keen to join the Dallas Cowboys. Running back Dalvin Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler, is chasing the Dallas Cowboys.According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Cook is interested in playing for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys’ interest in signing Cook was not mentioned by the NFL insider. According to Fowler, Dallas is also interested in making a trade for Miles Sanders, the running back for the Carolina Panthers.
“After losing Tony Pollard to a bigger contract in Tennessee, the Cowboys know they face questions at running back,” Fowler wrote in a story headlined “2024 NFL training camp news, buzz, fantasy football updates” published on August 9, 2024.
They have a small list of backup possibilities and will keep an eye on the Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Royce Freeman experience.

Miles Sanders of Carolina is included in that list. In addition, Dalvin Cook expressed interest in joining the Dallas team. Elliott is currently expected to start, but the Cowboys will control how many snaps he plays.
McCarthy is pleased with Dowdle’s performance at camp, so they need him to remain healthy. Additionally, the organization thinks Freeman can be a reliable RB2/RB3 option and a monster in short doses based on his footage from the Rams’ previous year.
Cook has been associated with the Cowboys more than once over the summer. Prior to deciding to reunite with Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas explored signing Cook, according to a prior story from former Dallas Morning News source Michael Gehlken.
In a message sent on April 29, Gehlken stated, “The Cowboys played a video montage for Ezekiel Elliott’s return to AT&T Stadium when Patriots visited in October.” For them, it wasn’t finished. It hasn’t ended yet. Dalvin Cook was also extensively covered within.
What the Cowboys would be getting in Cook at this point in his career is the question. Cook’s days of signing a five-year, $63 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings, which was originally supposed to go until 2025, are long gone.
Cook signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the New York Jets during the previous summer after being released by Minnesota.
After Aaron Rodgers’ injury, the Jets season did not go as expected, and Cook was let go by the organization in January. Cook signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens, but his postseason influence was minimal.
The four-time Pro Bowl player just finished his poorest statistical season to date. In 2023, Cook had 67 carries for 214 yards and zero touchdowns. The playmaker finished with 78 receiving yards on 15 catches.
Sanders would be a more interesting possibility in Dallas, but the running back from the Panthers would require a trade, requiring something to be given up. Cook’s benefit is that he is a free agent that the Cowboys might sign.
Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Royce Freeman are now competing to be the team’s starting running back.Based on training camp, Dowdle is the early frontrunner to be the team’s top back, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. Although Cook is not expected to be a starter, if the price is right, he might provide depth for the Cowboys at the position.
