Before the season began, Dallas did, however, agree to an inter-division deal that only cost them a late-round selection pick. The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants reach a trade agreement.

The Giants are sending seasoned defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the Cowboys, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

The Dallas Cowboys are trading a seventh-round pick to the Giants in exchange for a seasoned defensive tackle who was selected by the Oklahoma Sooners in the second round.

After the 2023 season concluded, Phillips was signed by the Giants, but before he could play, the Cowboys traded him away.

If Phillips had continued with the Giants, he would have been a valuable interior depth player on one of the league’s most formidable defensive lines. He will now perform the same amid a young interior defensive line that would benefit from an experienced player.

The Dallas Cowboys boast a strong defensive line that includes All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons and seasoned defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

Mazi Smith and Osa Odighizuwa are two intriguing young interior defensive lineman for the Cowboys, but they will gain a lot from having someone like Phillips as a depth piece and an experienced veteran presence.

In September, Phillips will turn 32 years old, and he has made 62 starts. After playing in 120 NFL games, the Sooners product finished his career with the Buffalo Bills for the final two seasons.

Since being selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, Phillips, who has played for the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, has accumulated 24 career sacks. The seasoned defensive tackle is getting close to ten years old and has 181 career tackles.
