The Cowboys, according to some, want to win. Some would argue that the Cowboys simply want to be discussed.

More and more evidence has surfaced in recent months to support the argument that owner Jerry Jones is more significant than the former.

Considering the relative proximity between the Cowboys and receiver CeeDee Lamb, this should be a simple task to do. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Clarence E. Hill, Jr. stated on Wednesday that Lamb is seeking $35 million annually, while the Cowboys have offered $33 million. Jones continued to discuss the matter on Wednesday, presumably in an effort to give the press and supporters additional opportunity to voice their opinions.

Following Wednesday’s joint practice with the Rams, Jones stated, “We are diligently working to get something done,” as reported by Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com.

Jones stated last week that he does not feel pressure to close a deal. Lamb took exception at it, responding with a “lol” on X, so Jones attempted to clarify himself on Sunday. There was no hurry, and that remained the message.

Jones stated on Wednesday that he did not “want to be misconstrued” in relation to Lamb.

Jones stated, “It is obvious that we do this because we want to be together so badly.” “We both want him to be a Dallas Cowboy, and I know he wants to be one, so I try not to get too worked up about things that could offend others.

In addition, Jones does not get upset easily when he sees something go wrong since, in his heart, he does not give a damn what others think of him or his group as long as they are saying anything at all. He is always felt that way. His testimony at the Sunday Ticket trial attested to that.

NFL talks are typically motivated by deadlines. In this instance, Jones and the Cowboys have determined that in order to move to their bottom line and, thus, get things done, the deadline rests at some point prior to Week 1, possibly right before the official practice week begins before the trip to Cleveland.

Some would argue that the first day of training camp should have been the deadline. Lamb should have been a part of Jones and the Cowboys’ organization from the beginning, preparing him to develop on last season. He will not be as ready as he could have been or would have liked to be.

And the holdout will take the fall if he does worse this year than he did last. The holdout will take the blame if he is hurt. The holdout will take the criticism if the Cowboys’ offense does not perform as it should.

All of that was preventable. But Jones did some math. His team will make headlines because he chose to postpone doing what needed to be done before camp commenced.
