One week has passed since Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made it known to the public that star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was missed in the Dallas locker room during a contract standout that has escalated into a summertime drama.

As the regular season draws near, the Cowboys are under pressure to finalize an extension with Lamb’s representative, and he faces losing out on millions of dollars if he doesn’t sign.

Lamb, who is expected to make roughly $18 million in 2024, is set to become a highly sought-after free agency following the 2024 NFL season if he does not sign a new deal — or if the Cowboys refuse to sell him.

The future for one of the NFL’s top receivers looks as cloudy as ever — and Lamb himself is muddying the waters.

Lamb’s new approach

With his contract negotiations with the Cowboys at a standstill, Lamb took to Instagram on Monday and posted a photo of himself dressed as Spider-Man to the platform’s Stories feature.

The photo, which features Maguire wearing a silver and black suit, instantly sparked rumors that Lamb was “going rogue” during the offseason.

Lamb has been frustrated by the Cowboys’ unwillingness to pay him top dollar, even though he posted a career year with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.

The Spider-Man picture leaves room for interpretation. Some on social media have even theorized that the suit’s coloring is an homage to the Los Vegas Raiders.

It may suggest that Lamb intends to hold out well into the regular season if necessary. However, one thing is certain: this drama is far from done, and Dallas’ chances of winning a Super Bowl this year may be jeopardized by the impasse between Lamb and Jerry Jones.
