Tuesday about 4:55 p.m. PT, a fire broke out at the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp. The Oxnard Police and Fire Department were called to the area and arrived quickly, putting out the fire immediately after.
The building itself was empty, but staff workers detected smoke and reported it to local authorities and hotel staff while players and coaches were participating in a team walkthrough a few hundred yards away from the scene.
The Cowboys have issued an official statement on the incident at 6:10 p.m. PT:
At the team’s hotel in Oxnard, California, a guest room experienced a fire emergency this afternoon. There were no injuries, and the issue was restricted to a single, vacant room.
The Oxnard Police and Fire Departments are appreciated by the Dallas Cowboys for their prompt action and response to the situation.”
