To be fair, Lance has been among the league’s more prolific quarterbacks during the first two preseason games; his 339 throwing yards rank second in the NFL, only surpassed by Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett.
This list is really fascinating.In addition, he has the ninth-best QB Rating of the preseason, ranking between Raiders quarterbacks Aidan O’Connell and… Gardner Minshew (which is ironic considering that Minshew was selected QB1).

It’s evident that any stat sheet featuring players like Mac Jones, Sam Howell, and Kenny Pickett is meaningless, but Lance has played well enough to be a strong contender for the backup quarterback position.
Not many owners out there do media during training camp on the side of a practice field and then use that media event to announce quarterback decisions, for example. And, technically speaking, all of this is occurring weeks ahead of schedule.
