The 2024 rookie class of the Dallas Cowboys is still vying for spots on the roster as training camp draws to a close.

The Raiders’ 27-12 defeat in Las Vegas on Saturday night aided many of the young players in their argument. Sadly, a few made a step backward.

Here’s how the rookies performed on Saturday, starting with the April draft selections:

Guyton Tyler

Guyton performed admirably in his matchup with the Raiders. Additionally, he has been sporting a monstrous appearance in videos leaving the Oxnard camp.

Kneeland, Marshawn

Western Michigan product Marshawn Kneeland, a second-round selection, just recorded one tackle in the victory on Saturday.

When the Cowboys play their opening game of the season in Cleveland, he is probably going to start on the edge opposite DeMarcus Lawrence.

He still needs to be a little more impressive in game action, though, than Guyton. Kneeland cannot afford to remain complacent with the way Dallas has been shopping for defensive lineman.

Cooper Beebe

Cooper Beebe is playing like a seasoned veteran, just like Guyton. On one play, the Kansas State player selected in the third round put on an incredible sequence.

Cooper tackled the Raiders’ nose tackler and knocked him to the ground after trying to snap the ball to Try Lance.

Then Beebe came off the block and intercepted a linebacker who was approaching on a delayed blitz.

Marist Liufau

On Saturday, Marist Liufau recorded three tackles in the Raiders game. By the end of training camp, the Notre Dame third round pick will be on the final roster.

However, barring an injury, it does not appear likely that he will make the starting lineup at this time.

At linebacker, I currently envision Micah Parsons, Eric Kendricks, and DeMarvion Overshown in the starting lineup.

Furthermore, Liufau must be watching out for him. Considering that another rookie linebacker is putting pressure on him.

Carson Caelen

Caelen Carson, a Wake Forest product selected in the fifth round, did not log any stats during the match on Saturday.

However, at this stage, the cornerback is virtually guaranteed a spot on the final roster. He is anticipated to be a major contributor to Mike Zimmer’s defense this season.

Ryan Flournoy

Ryan Flournoy, a sixth-round selection, caught four passes for 23 yards, including a touchdown from Lance

He had one carry for seven yards as well.

Nobody is forgetting about the missing CeeDee Lamb thanks to Flournoy. He is, however, arguing for the position of fourth receiver.

Nathan Thomas

Offensive lineman Nathan Thomas, a seventh-round selection, could end up not making the roster or practice squad.

Rogers, Justin

Justin Rogers, a defensive tackle selected in the seventh round, may also not make the squad. especially in light of the Cowboys’ recent additions to the position.

The Unwritten

South Dakota linebacker Brock Mogensen may be the UDFA with the best chance of making the squad.

Mogensen attempted to challenge Liufau for the first backup spot on Saturday, recording three tackles. He is going to need to play even better this Saturday.

tense conclusion On Saturday, Minnesotan Brevyn Spann-Ford failed to make a catch.

For the third TE spot on the roster, he is competing with John Stephens Jr.

John Stephens Jr., a 49-year-old football player for the Dallas Cowboys, is seen from the back shaking hands with someone.

running backs Reversing course Both Nathaniel Peat (one reception for 15 yards) and Snoop Conner (five carries for 15 yards) are vying for a seat in the Cowboys’ running-back by committee room.

Defense players Julius Wood, Denzel Daxon, and Josh DeBerry all made their cases on Saturday with five tackles apiece, including one for a loss, and three tackles overall from cornerback Josh DeBerry. However, receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper may have sealed his fate when he failed to make a catch and fumbled the ball back to the Raiders on a punt return.

This time of year, all it takes is one slip-up. It seems possible that Moreno-Cropper blew his opportunity against Dallas on Saturday.

Perhaps even his chance to play in the NFL.
