Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott noted that CeeDee Lamb gained muscle this offseason.
CeeDee Lamb added muscle this offseason, and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has noticed a change in his attire. Prescott got his first look at Lamb this week, as he returned to the Cowboys after a lengthy absence. Lamb missed the preseason but was definitely working on his own to bulk up and prepare for a demanding NFL season.
“He’s wearing a lot more sleeveless shirts,” Prescott remarked on August 29. “As long as the speed is there, and it looks like it is (in practice), I’m fine with however big he is.”
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has also noticed Lamb’s bulkier physique.
On Monday, the Cowboys and Lamb reached an agreement to extend his contract for four years for $136. Lamb is now the league’s second-highest paid non-quarterback. Despite skipping camp, he’s optimistic about the upcoming Week 1. “Obviously had plenty of time to revamp myself physically, to become more prepared for the season,” Lamb said us. “I wish I had had a camp, but that’s okay. Ultimately, it will be beneficial. “I’m ready for battle.”
Lamb doesn’t see himself having any restrictions in terms of his workload for the opening game.
“No question,” Lamb said. “I’ll be ready.”
Lamb is coming off a strong year. Last season, he had a league-high 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Cowboys have expressed a desire to see him participate even more this season.
“He’s going to touch the ball a ton — for what we’re going to have to pay him, he better,” Jones told Yahoo! Sports’ Jori Epstein.”He needs to be targeted 12-15 times per game. You get to give it to him a few more times. I don’t expect it to change. “He is our go-to guy.”
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Gets Honest on Contract Situation
Prescott spoke to the media on Thursday, and it wasn’t all jokes. Prescott is in the final year of his deal, which the Cowboys hope will be completed by Week 1. Time is running short, but Prescott isn’t worried too much.
“Being honest with you is no longer my primary focus. “I told you that,” Prescott said. “I’m not sure it was ever my main emphasis. It’s about improving myself and this squad, putting us in the best position and feeling the most confidence to go up to Cleveland and open the season with a win.”
Prescott has complete control over the discussions, and if the Cowboys want to keep him, they must make a significant offer. Prescott’s upcoming contract is expected to exceed the current threshold for top quarterback pay of $55 million per season. “Getting paid again is just part of it,” Prescott explained. “I’m due for it, whether it’s signing here or somewhere else, which I don’t want to think about right now. It’s all part of it.
