With the Dallas Cowboys just signing superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a lucrative long-term contract extension, putting him among the highest-paid players at his position, attention has shifted to Dak Prescott’s long-term future with America’s Team.

Things look to be growing tight with Prescott, who does not appear to be pleased with his present status in Dallas and the fact that the team’s hierarchy has not prioritized signing him to a contract extension.

With Prescott expected to enter the 2024 NFL season without a contract extension, many have speculated on what the future holds for his career in the league, with the assumption being that he will play somewhere after 2024.

One of the most recent takes on Prescott comes from former NFL executive Mike Tannenbaum, who claims that University of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders could be the Cowboys’ quarterback next season, which irritated cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who felt compelled to respond on X.

“There’s a better chance, in my opinion, that Shedeur Sanders could be the quarterback [for the Cowboys] next year than Dak Prescott at this point,” Tannenbaum told the crowd. Lewis was clearly upset with this hot take and responded, “I can’t emphasize enough how much I can’t stand you, m**.”

With Prescott’s unclear future, the Cowboys’ narrative will revolve around what the team plans to do after the 2024 season, which means there will be a lot more opinions thrown around throughout the season. Only time will tell what the Cowboys have planned for the 2019 season and beyond, since a shake-up is possible if things do not go well in 2024.
