Though it may have taken longer than anticipated, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was able to sign, seal, and receive his new deal last week. However, it meant that while the agreement was being worked out, the All-Pro missed minicamp, training camp, and OTAs. Because of this, several people believed Lamb would not be in “football” shape for Dallas’ opening game against the Cleveland Browns

Are there any worries now that Lamb has had two weeks to adjust to Mike McCarthy’s offense regarding his physical and mental state? Not in Dak Prescott’s case. “He is going to be fine,” Prescott assured. “It has taken us two weeks to bring him back in. He was obviously in good shape, but he was ready for the intense pressure of playing in a narrow window with defenders on your back. It is easy to see that [he’s] a top player by watching the movie from the previous year; he is improved, so now all that needs to be done is go out there and prove it to us both.”

With CeeDee shattering multiple team records, Dak leading the NFL in touchdown passes (36), and Lamar Jackson trailing Lamb in the MVP race, 2023 was Lamb and Prescott’s best year as pros. The two are expected to do better. The Cowboys are expected to step it up in the second year of McCarthy’s “Texas Coast Offense,” with Brandin Cooks, Jake Ferguson, Jalen Tolbert, and KaVontae Turpin assigned to assist Lamb.

The defense of the Browns will have a difficult time stopping Dak and CeeDee now that they are getting back on the same page. However, that is exactly within the purview of Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Sunday marks the start of the Cowboys’ lame-duck season. With Prescott and Lamb playing at full tilt, will they be able to defeat Cleveland on the road? We will soon find out.
