Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles prevailed in a historic game played in South America. Love may have lost in Brazil, but that is not nearly as significant for the Dallas Cowboys and the rest of the NFC. On the very last play of the game, linebacker Zack Baun sacked Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis at midfield, capping an incredible, electrifying evening in Sao Paulo for the Eagles, who prevailed 34-29. With five seconds left, Packers franchise quarterback Jordan Love suffered a serious lower leg injury. Willis was in for the last two plays.

The Packers are one of the NFC favorites to win the Super Bowl after humiliatingly losing to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium during the previous season’s playoffs. However, their aspirations might already be dashed in the absence of Love. Love, trailing by five points, had the Packers near midfield in the last minute, setting up the offense for a thrilling victory—or at the very least, a Hail Mary. However, he was hurried and positioned between Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter, two Eagles defenders, on a dropback. With :05 left in the game, Love narrowly escaped a game-ending sack by lateraling desperately to running back Josh Jacobs, who sped out of boun

However, in the process, his left leg twisted and seemed to give way inside out. Then he fell in a heap, seemingly with someone rolling onto his left ankle. Love remained on the field in evident, excruciating pain until Green Bay trainers carried him off the field

Regarding Love’s condition following the game, Packers coach Matt LaFleur said: “I am not sure. I am not sure. After agreeing to a four-year, $220 million contract extension in July, Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Reed. Jalen Hurts, the quarterback, had three errors in the game; he was called for two interceptions and one fumble that was actually caused by an early snap, but the Eagles still prevailed.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had a spectacular debut, racking up 132 yards and three touchdowns. To stay up with the 1-0 Eagles, the Cowboys must win their opening game on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
