Owner and general manager Jerry Jones announced on Sunday that the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have reached an agreement on a four-year, $240 million contract

extension that would make the star quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history and keep him wearing Cowboys uniforms through the 2028 season.

The agreement offers the highest guaranteed amount in league history—$231 million. The value of Deshaun Watson’s $230 million contract with the Cleveland Browns was completely guaranteed.

“I am aware that these figures surpass any expectations I may have had,” Jones remarked of the money that

Prescott’s deal guaranteed.

Prescott’s $60 million average yearly value contract is the largest in NFL history, substantially outpacing previous $55 million average yearly value contracts signed by Trevor Lawrence of Jacksonville, Joe Burrow of Cincinnati, and Jordan Love of Green Bay.

In addition, Prescott’s signing bonus of $80 million set a record, surpassing Love’s prior high of $75 million.

Much of me believes [that] I should play quarterback for Dak for the rest of my career,” Jones remarked. Furthermore, that extends outside the parameters of this agreement.

I’m really confident in him. He offers so much to the conversation. It’s significant that the squad looks up to him as a player.” Hours before Dallas’ season opener against the Browns in Cleveland, the record-breaking agreement was reached after the Cowboys and Prescott held talks all weekend, sources told ESPN.
