Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys took a financial hit to give Dak Prescott an unprecedented payment. Prescott seems more than willing to pay it forward.
At Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday, Prescott guided the Cowboys to a resounding 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Despite the game being much less competitive than the final score indicates, the three-time Pro Bowler still managed to throw for 179 yards and one touchdown.
Only a few hours had passed since the Cowboys formally declared Prescott to be the highest-paid player in NFL history. Prescott’s enormous agreement is described in detail here.
Prescott was questioned about perhaps winning a Super Bowl during his new four-year contract after the game.
According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Prescott stated, “It is my only motivation.” Hold up my half of the bargain. Just get that done. That is what drives me. For now, tonight is about celebrating this victory. Amazing victory over these guys; I am looking forward to returning to the plane with them but also flipping the page tomorrow, moving on to the Saints, and taking each game one at a time.
That is the first thing that comes to mind. not the cash. It is about fulfilling my half of the bargain. I would also like to do it here.
With Prescott at quarterback, the Cowboys have regularly enjoyed success during the regular season. Dallas has completed the last three seasons 12-5.
However, the Cowboys have been equally reliable.
Since Prescott joined the squad in 2016, the team has not advanced past the Divisional Round; this run of failure stretches back several decades before Prescott’s arrival.
