These days, CeeDee Lamb is a happy man.

Only a few weeks have passed since the star wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a four-year, $136 million contract that includes a $100 million guaranteed sum and a record-breaking $38 million signing bonus for a wide out. After Lamb had refused to sign the contract for the whole of training camp, an agreement was reached only before the season began.

The 25-year-old receiver clarifies that he was “ecstatic” to hear the news and that he was actually in Florida because he maintained his fitness during his holdout in Fort Lauderdale.

“How did I feel when I initially found out? I was really in Florida at the time. “I was overjoyed,” Lamb exclaims in a one-on-one interview, grinning broadly. It did not seem genuine. I believe we recorded my response when I was speaking with my agent and uploaded it to the platform. It was unbelievable to me. It felt like the deal was completely completed when he told me. I can go play ball now.

Lamb was initially projected to make slightly less than $18 million this season, but he is currently the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL. In addition to receiving $34 million annually, he has a contract with the Cowboys that runs through the 2028 campaign.

The fifth-year receiver, who produced a ton last season and earned his big contract, is beaming. Lamb set team records with an NFL-high 135 catches and 1,749 receiving yards. Two weeks after signing the contract, the young receiver describes how it still feels “surreal.”

“All I am saying is, hold on, let us appreciate this. Retrace your steps,” Lamb advises. “I just reflect on everything that my family and I have been through, and I just want to keep growing as a man and serving as an example for my brothers, cousins, and all of my little ones. I also just want to be a leader in the community.” It is a wonderful sensation. It seems rather strange.

Despite missing training camp and missing practice with his teammates, Lamb appeared to be fully focused on the Cowboys’ season-opening victory over the Cleveland Browns. In the 33-17 win, Lamb had a team-high five receptions for 61 receiving yards.
