Since he is not on an NFL sideline for the first time in more than 20 years, Bill Belichick has been speaking out a lot lately. Many people think he is waiting it out and relishing his public appearances until he unavoidably returns to coaching next season.

The Dallas Cowboys are one team that is frequently mentioned as a potential candidate for Belichick’s future coaching job. The organization has recently received acclaim from the coach for identifying young, talented players.

Belichick emphasized the value of adding good depth to expensive players like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb while praising the team for acquiring players like Brandon Aubrey, KaVontae Turpin, and DeMarvion Overshown in an interview with Josh Norris of Underdog Fantasy.

Belichick continued, saying that after missing the entire previous campaign and leading the club in tackles in Week 1, Overshown was effectively a free draft choice.

For now, all is well in Big D as the team attempts to advance toward another postseason appearance and perhaps get over the hump. However, saying kind things about the Cowboys while Mike McCarthy is in a contract year as the team’s head coach will undoubtedly give fans notions about the two parties coming together.

Football fans have enjoyed having more access to Belichick and his illustrious football acumen this summer, but it begs the question of what it may be like if he took the helm in Dallas.

He is entirely correct that the Cowboys are learning to assemble a team with great depth and have steered clear of some of the high-profile acquisitions that have dogged them in the past.
