After hearing the supporters’ chirping, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy lost it, and a reporter had to pay the price.

The Cowboys suffered their second straight loss, falling to the Baltimore Ravens 28-25, despite some late-game drama. It was a nasty loss, even though the scoreboard indicates that the game was tight. The Cowboys’ defense allowed 274 running yards, CeeDee Lamb was irritated the entire game, and the team’s offense was exploding on the sideline.

The Boys’ short week comes at the start of Week 4, as they take on their division opponent, the New York Giants, on “Thursday Night Football”.

When a reporter questioned McCarthy about the team’s feelings over “not having a ton of time for corrections” during a press conference on September 23, McCarthy became agitated.

“That was really dramatic, Nick [name of reporter]. You have to work on that one.The game was not won by us. That is a component of our situation.Fans of the Cowboys did not anticipate or enjoy their head coach’s agitated outburst. Even the Cowboys’ neighboring media site, Blogging The Boys, praised reporter Nick Harris’s inquiry and expressed disappointment with McCarthy’s response. Those postseason defeats also say a lot. The Cowboys’ 23–17 loss to their archrival, the San Francisco 49ers, in 2021 was a complete disaster. The rivals squared up once more in 2022, but this time in the divisional round, with the same outcome. Cowboys’ loss was 19–12.

Probably the most damaging to the fan base was the team’s most recent playoff defeat. The Cowboys had home-field advantage and a bye week in 2023 after finishing first in the NFC. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Cowboys 48–32, despite the fact that the odds were in their advantage. The Boys seemed uninspired. McCarthy’s decision to stay as the head coach of “America’s Team” was made apparent by Jerry Jones during the previous season; but, given the way the 2024 season has begun, it is unlikely that he will.

If the Giants are defeated by the Cowboys on “TNF,”McCarthy will be able to quiet the crowds—at least temporarily. Beginning in October, McCarthy and the Cowboys will face an examination. The Boys travel to Pittsburgh (who are currently 3-0) on October 6, the Lions (2-1) visit “Jerry World” on October 13, and the Cowboys take on the Niners on October 27.
