The Pittsburgh Steelers’ week has been filled with unnecessary drama after their Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. George Pickens only played 34 snaps, leading many to speculate if there was a deeper reason behind it.
Mike Tomlin explained it as “snap management,” later confirming that Pickens’ effort was a factor in limiting his snaps.
Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette also reported that Pickens has been late several times this season, which may have contributed to his reduced snaps. Pickens addressed the media for the first time this week, giving brief answers regarding his limited playing time.
“It’s game structure, game-plan,” Pickens said. “Art wanted to run certain types of plays or had a certain game-plan, and it’s going to be different.”
When asked if he could regain his reps, Pickens stated that it wasn’t his decision.
“Nah, it’s not up to me, it’s up to Art.”
It remains to be seen how much he will play on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, but this tension can’t be good for anyone.
